from 721 reviewsI love these but never got one. Pros I love this style of calendar because it adds a small routine to your day. It’s not just checking the calendar you tear a piece off and reveal a little sculpture. I love that it has lights too! The packaging is beautiful and matches the product. I love that it also comes with a plastic case to protect it from my cat. Cons I would have loved the instructions printed on the first couple pages. I don’t want to take anything off before I’m supposed to.
I ordered this because we are Harry Potter fans and I thought this looks like a unique idea. In order to test out how it works, I had to destroy it prior to the year it’s made for - doh! But it is a pretty cool reveal. Once we had torn off about half of the weeks (and note that the calendar pages are not individual days, but labeled in chunks by each week), I finally switched on the light. At first, I thought my wiring was bad, because only the left side of my half-revealed castle was lighting up. However, after we removed about 25% more pages, I tried out the lighting again and found that the whole castle was indeed wired up with light, nice! It’s amazing how intricate some of the sections turn out, knowing that the cliffs are carved out of stacked paper. I haven’t removed some of the bottom sheets yet, but we pulled off enough to get the gist and take photos of the turn out. While I would say this is more of an elegant gift for a Harry Potter fan than a calendar, it is still a cool, unique gift that some fans of the series are bound to love.
I’m excited to see the end result of this mini decorative lighted magical castle! This is such a great idea for a calendar. The hardest/worst part is I will have to be patient to see it finished until January 1, 2027 lol.
The colors: from what I can tell the colors are beautiful. The dark blue at the top is a beautiful hue. From the side I can see the layers and the other colors appear to be just as beautifully dark vibrant.
The light: I can’t test the light yet but it does come with a little pull paper to activate the light when it’s finished so I’m hopeful the battery will last and that will be such a fun addition to this.
The case: this comes with a protective plastic case, which is fantastic. This will be a great way to protect the finished decorative castle and display it. It has a hole in the corner for a pen which is great!
The quality: this is amazing quality. The paper is a great card stock and feels sturdy. The plastic/light component on the back feels well done and sturdy as well. The plastic protective case is also sturdy. Overall just beautiful workmanship. It seems like each paper should be easy to tear away since the perforation seems well done.
The fine details: since it obviously isn’t finished yet I can only judge from what I can see at this point - the cutting for the day/month/year etc seems well cut, not sloppy at all. On the side you can see the perforations for the design and it seems well done.
I like to purchase calendars as gifts for the holidays. This calendar is like no other I have seen. You remove a bit of each page and by the end of the year you have a wizardry-looking castle with a light and an acrylic box to display it. I will tell you that it is only weekly but if you have it on your desk at work, it can be a nice thing to do at the start of the week.
The presentation is very nice. It arrived in a nice red box despite being shrink wrapped. The card stock is very nice and heavy. The stencil cut on the weekly day/date pages is very well done. These little slivers of paper are neat and unique. This calendar is a great gift for an individual who like unique things, likes Magic, Harry Potter, the big show about dragons, or just fantasy literature and movies.
This desk calendar is such a fun and creative piece—I went ahead and tore all the pages out right away for the sake of giving a full representation of the product, and I couldn’t be happier. The clear case makes it look clean and modern and dust-free, while the castle design that emerges as the weeks pass is absolutely stunning. The built-in lights add a warm, enchanting glow, and I love the thoughtful addition of a pencil holder, which makes it both decorative and functional for my home office desk.
Replacing the batteries is simple—you can carefully pry open the bottom plastic piece (from the round end) when needed. The weekly pages themselves are also a delight, with unique cutouts and clever little designs throughout. I did find a few tiny loose cut pieces in the stack, but they shook out easily and didn’t affect the finished look at all.
Overall, this is such a unique, well-made piece that combines art, light, and practicality. Perfect for wizarding world fans! The lovely box it comes in is very gift-able as well.
I am very excited to use this calendar next year. Everything came contained in a small gift box, ready to be unboxed set out on a desk and used when the new year strikes. The paper is good quality and the first couple of pages tore away easily in preparation. This is a fun way to mark the passage of time through the new year.
I bought one of these last year for my best friend and it was such a hit that I’m making it a yearly purchase. The design is creative and artsy, and the built-in lights make it stand out as more than just a calendar—it’s also a cool piece of decor. Perfect mix of practical and thoughtful.
It's a useful little calendar with the extra novelty of seeing a castle take shape. Would make for a great gift for someone's desk. It's made from good quality paper and I really like that once it's done the little included plastic cover lets you keep using it as a pen holder.
This 3D calendar is both functional and beautiful! The thick card stock gives it durability and a sense of quality you can feel with every page. The fit and finish are precise, and the material quality makes it easy to use without worrying about tearing or bending. While the listing said no battery was included, mine came with one that worked right away out of the box, which added a bit more value for the money! The soft glow of the lights adds comfort and charm, turning it into more than just a calendar. I can’t wait to reach the new year and watch the castle slowly appear - it’s a piece of art as much as it is a timepiece.
Very creative, well-thought-out, fancifully designed weekly desk calendar. It comes nicely packaged in a gift-style box, and with the acrylic dust cover to preserve the castle at the end of the year, the whole package feels very sturdy and stable. The calendar is made with thick cardstock, so each page has a nice weight to it, and with an extra blank page underneath each week, the layered effect gives texture and depth to the dates.
I think this is such a fantastic gift idea, and I’m excited to enjoy it throughout the coming year and beyond. It’s a quality piece that will be appreciated well past a single calendar year and may even become a new tradition for my desk, as well as a top gift choice for those hard-to-shop-for friends and family.
I’m already looking forward to using this calendar next year! It’s a tear-away style where you remove a piece each week, and by the end of the year you’ve created a full piece of art. I think that’s such a creative twist on a calendar.
One thing I noticed is that the description says “battery not included,” but it doesn’t mention which type of battery it takes. I was prepared to figure that out, but when I switched it on, the light worked right away, so there must already be a battery installed. That was a pleasant surprise.
I also really like the clear overlay it comes with. Not only does it protect the artwork when it’s finished, but you can also use it throughout the year as a pen holder, which makes the calendar feel even more functional.
This would make a unique and thoughtful gift, but I’ll be keeping this one for myself!
I have seen these and always wanted one and when I saw this castle, I had to have it.
The writeup says the batteries are not included. You can see from the picture that there is a tab on the back that is insulating the installed battery. When you remove this, you turn on the switch and a small string of led lights will light up. Mine lit, so the batteries are included.
The calendar has been torn down to a certain point out of the box. This gives a firm structure to pull the pages off of. I tore off the pages until I got to the fist page of the calendar. They are easy to remove as they are only attached by small tabs at the outside of each page. That is nice so you don't have to worry about ripping the pages and ruining the scene. The plastic cover will keep this safe and the hole fits a pen perfectly.
This is just a fun and beautiful way to tick off each week of the new year. I am excited to see my castle emerge. This would also make a great gift.
Perfect gift for a HP fan!
